My number one piece of advice about make-up homework comes from a popular slogan, “Just do it!” Time can pass very slowly when you’re home from school due to illness. You might as well use that time to complete whatever make-up work you have.
If you know you are going in the hospital for a routine blood transfusion, you have plenty of notice in advance to gather make-up work from your teachers. There’s no reason why you can’t pass the time in the hospital by doing schoolwork. It will keep your mind from turning to mush. Besides, there’s only so much TV you can watch before you turn into a zombie.
Going to school, achieving good grades, graduating with a decent GPA, all help you plan and prepare for your future. Though you have Sickle Cell Anemia you still have a bright future ahead of you. What you choose to do with that future is entirely up to you.
This blog is intended to help people of all ages cope with many of the challenges that come with Sickle Cell Disease. When first launched, my target audience was teens and parents. Over the years, however, the scope of my content has expanded to help people of all ages who may struggle with similar complications as I. Whether you’re reading this for yourself or to help a loved one cope with Sickle Cell, I believe there is something here for everybody affected by this disease and other illnesses.
